DocCreate Walkthrough

1. Introduction to DocCreate

DocCreate is an application built for use within monday.com Work Management. It allows users to create documents directly from a monday.com board by mapping board data into document templates. This enables teams to generate professional documents seamlessly using existing data within their monday.com workspace.

2. Installing DocCreate in monday.com

Follow these steps to install DocCreate:

  1. Open monday.com and navigate to the Apps Marketplace. (Currently Not Published)
  2. Search for DocCreate in the search bar.
  3. Click on DocCreate from the results.
  4. Click Install and follow the on-screen instructions to integrate it into your monday.com workspace.
  5. Once installed, DocCreate will be available as a new app within your monday.com interface.

3. Setting Up DocCreate

After installation, follow these steps to configure DocCreate:

Open DocCreate Board View:

  • Click on the + sign to add a new view.
  • Go to Explore Apps, search for DocCreate, and add it.
  • Select a DocCreate Recipe template.
  • This will require you to open the DocCreate Board View.

Configure Document Generation Settings:

  • Choose the document type: PDF or DOCX.
  • Define the naming convention for generated documents.
  • Generate a document template that follows your company's branding.
  • Use the provided example templates as a starting point.

Map Board Data to Placeholders:

  • Each column in the board has a corresponding placeholder.
  • Example: {{Item.name}} represents the name column.

Final Setup – Add Necessary Columns:

  • Create a 'Create Doc' column (button type, required).
  • Create a 'Created Doc' column (file type, required).

  • Open Automation and Search for DocCreate Recipes:

  • In this Click on Use Template
  • Configure an automation with the following logic:
  • "When button (Create Doc) is clicked, generate document (Created Doc) in column."

  • Click Create Automation.
  • This should be the recipe.

4. Using DocCreate

Generating a Document:

  • Open the relevant monday.com board.
  • Click on the Create Doc button in a row.
  • DocCreate will generate a document using mapped data from the row.
  • The generated document will appear in the Created Doc column.

  • Download generated documents directly from the Created Doc column.
  • Update templates as needed for branding and formatting.
  • Automate document generation for efficiency.
